Gingham Check Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern

A simple baby blanket design suitable for novice knitters. The blanket is quick to make and the border and stitch pattern are knitted all in one so there is no sewing (other than weaving in loose ends).

YARN

Suggested yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (90m/98yds per 50g) is the yarn I used for my sample but you can use any worsted/Aran weight long as long as you match the gauge stated below. If you work to a different gauge your blanket will be bigger or smaller.

Quantity:Car Seat 450m (5 x 90m balls)

      Pram 985m (12 x 90m balls)

      Cot blanket 1435m = (16 x 90m balls)

      Large Baby/Toddler Blanket 1882m (21 x 90m balls)

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

Suggested needles: Size 5mm (US8) single point needles (or a long circular needle to knit a larger blanket). The needle size is only a suggestion - use the appropriate size needles to achieve the stated gauge.
