Little Cables Baby Beanie Hat Knitting Pattern

On Sale
Added to cart

This little beanie looks so adorable on babies and the simple cables are the perfect introduction to cable knitting. Instructions are provided for knitting the hat flat (seamed) or knitting in the round.

Suggested yarn: I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (50g/125m) for my samples but you can use any sport/5ply weight yarn as long as you can make the stated gauge.

Hats under 6 months require less than 1 x 50g balls of the suggested yarn; larger sizes will need up to 2 x 50g balls

  • Suggested needles: Size 3.00mm (US2½) and 3.25mm (US3) single point needles (for knitting flat) or the same size in DPNs or circular needles (using magic loop) depending on how you prefer to knit small circumferences in the round. The needle sizes are only a suggestion - use the appropriate size needles to achieve the stated gauge.
  • Large blunt sewing needle
  • Stitch markers (optional) - in case you prefer to mark the position of where decreases should be in the crown shaping.
  • Small cable needle (not required if you know how to make cables without a cable needle which is much faster!)

25sts and 34rows over 10cm (4”) in stocking stitch using 3.25mm (US3) needles

Newborn (0-3, 3-6, 6-12,12-36) months
